Dr Somit Kumar, MD(Ayu), (PhD) is the Director of Research at Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (AVP) Research Foundation in Coimbatore, India and the CEO of AVP Baltics.

His primary areas of scientific interest in Ayurveda are Clinical Research and Reverse Pharmacology.

Dr Somit Kumar has been a practicing clinician for the last 13 years and specialises in Panchakarma located in Kerela. His expertise spans the spectrum of metabolic, neuroendocrine, rheumatologic, dermatological, and autoimmunity problems. 

Ayurveda's holistic approach informs his clinical consultations, which include nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, Ayurvedic medication, Yoga, and cognitive counselling. 

He is a founding faculty member of the AVP training academy, which offers regular short-term Ayurveda orientation sessions to students from around the world.

He is a member of the author team that translated Astanga Hridayam into Latvian.
