Objectives

To create distinct categories of food, health supplements and medicine among Ayurvedic products in TGA

To affirm ‘medicine’ status to certain herbs/ herbal compositions in TGA and limit the usage and distribution of medicines to qualified/ registered practitioners only.

To be the peak body to evaluate and maintain standards of Ayurvedic medicines coming into or manufactured in Australia according to Ayurvedic principles and standards.

To offer expert advice and services to TGA or other authorities regarding Ayurvedic herbs, medicines, manufacturing

To lobby, communicate and liaise with government bodies on issues that concerns Ayurveda

To enhance the exchange of information and networks for sponsors, dealers, suppliers, manufacturers, researchers, educators and other related interested groups in the industry.

To encourage research contributions by government agencies, organizations, ayurvedic practitioners, business people and individuals for Ayurveda.

To set a code of practice, rules or other standards for the supply of Ayurveda medicines and facilitate the government to implement a fair, practical and effective scheme with respect to the management of the Ayurveda medicine industry in Australia.

To promote the awareness and image of Ayurvedic medicine in Australia by ensuring that the public be benefited in terms of efficacy, quality and safety.
